TAS5825M: Total Power calculation TAS5825M

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hello Audio Amp team,

can you help us estimate the power consumption for TAS5825M?

With the calculation of the output inductors (10.1.1 Inductor Selections) from the datasheet, the following values result:

I peak_power_up: 1.63A

I peak_clipping: 1.66A

Are those values independent from the output power?

Do I need to estimate that with a factor 2 for stereo?

How would the current pulses look like, especially their max time?

With what current would we need to work with? F.e. dimensioning the LC filter, fuses?

Thanks for your support and happy holidays,

Marion

  • Hi Marion,

    To calculate the power consumption of TAS5825, it is suggested to:

    1. Digital total power consumption: to measure the RMS value of DVDD current, the times DVDD voltage;
    2. PVDD power consumption: PVDD * I_pvdd - (I_inductor ^ 2 * DCR * 2 + Power on Speaker)
    3. totoal consumption = DVDD consumption + PVDD consumption.

    BR,

    Alix
