PCM5102A: THD+N test configuration for PCM5102A

Part Number: PCM5102A

Dears,

May I know what is the test configuration for PCM5102A?

As my test result, it is very different with datasheet.

My test setting as below.

My test method is:

1. use customer own board.

2. audio source is 1KHz sine wave that playback from customer board storage

3. change volume from 100%(FS is ~1.8V) to 95%(-1dBFS is ~1.24V)

4. Then measure the THD+N with AP.

Is there anything wrong with the testing? What is the test configuration of datasheet?

I want to try to test with same configuration as possible to compare with datasheet.

Thanks.

  • Hi Peter,

We only specify the THD+N of the device for -1dBFS input.  We also specify the THD+N with a 20-kHz AES17 low-pass filter.  That should be an option in the filter selection panel.  In addition, I see you are using units of dBr.  dBr is generally not used for THD measurements as the ratio you are representing is the desired signal over all other energy in the spectrum.  I recommend you change the measurement setting from "THD+N Ampl" to "THD+N Ratio", and use units of dB.

You could also use the FFT measurement if you suspect there is some kind of external noise source.

    Thanks,

    Paul
