Hi,

I have an AM5728 EVM which has tlv320aic3104 audiocodec. It is booted in Linux.

When I record my voice using the arecord command, I get some noise along with my voice. I have tried to change Line PGA gain. But there but there is always some noise for every Line PGA gain value that I set. More the Line PGA gain more is the noise recorded and vice versa.

What can I do to remove the noise altogether ? Can anyone suggest any other parameters that I have to change to reduce noise ?

Is there something to be done in the device driver of tlv320aic3104 audiocodec?

Also, please note that the EVM gives no noise (negligible) in mic record output when booted in android.

Please help!

Hi Vishal,

It sounds like this probably has something to do with how the AIC3104 device is getting initialized on the AM5728EVM Linux driver.

Would you perform a register dump of the AIC3104 in both configurations? We'll likely find something is off with one of the settings between the two configurations.

Hi Collin,

I don't know the procedure to take the register dump of the AIC3104. Can you help me? I have the sources for the driver i.e., tlv320aic3x.c

Hi Vishal,

The i2cdump command will work to dump the registers for any i2c device. It follows this format:

I2cdump -f -y <i2c_bus_number> <device_i2c_address>

The -f -y is to force a dump and confirm it, since the driver is already connected to that specific device and we are overiding it to get all the registers.

An example for I2C address 0x4C is:

i2cdump -y -f 2 0x4c

Ok. I am able to read the registers using i2cdump command. But, how do I verify the value written in these registers? Because in the 3212 device datasheet, the register values is not provided.

Hi Vishal,

Would you post the resulting register logs for the devices you're using? The thread mentions the AIC3104 but then you've referenced the AIC3212 in the last post.

Hi Vishal,

Can you please share your desired sample rate as well as the MCLK, BCLK and WCLK values? I can see that the PLL in enabled so I would like to make sure that it is properly configured.
