LMK04610: Interfacing of LVDS clock between LMK04610 and LMK00308

Part Number: LMK04610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00308,

Hi,

  1. A 100MHz LVDS (4-mA HSDS or 6-mA HSDS) clock is generated from LMK04610 and is fed as input to the LMK00308. The differential output voltage swing is much higher than the normal LVDS specification so what on board termination have to set at the LMK00308 input? Does a single 100E resistor with AC coupling termination is sufficient?
  2. If 8-mA HSDS or 16-mA HSCL output configuration is selected accidently, then will it damage the CLKIN pins of LMK00308?

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Deepak

If you select 4mA HSDS output with 100 ohm termination as shown in the datasheet, the voltage swing should be within the LVDS specifications. Please refer to "9.3.2 Clock Outputs (CLKoutX)" section of the datasheet.

LMK00308 CLKIN pins are universal inputs and can accept LVPECL, LVDS, CML, SSTL,HSTL, HCSL, or Single-Ended Clocks and specified for 3.3V VCC. So they will not damage if you select 8-mA HSDS or 16-mA HSCL.

    Best regards
