LMX25312570EVAL: Can't load eval board using Codeloader 4 and USB to IEEE parallel printer cable

Part Number: LMX25312570EVAL

The eval board shipped with a 25 pin parallel port cable.  We purchased a Tripp Lite Model # U207-006 USB to IEEE parallel printer cable adapter to interface to the eval board cable.  Has anyone used this to work with the LMX25312570EVAL?  So far, I can't get it to program.

  • I found a TI "USB2ANY" adapter. I am having trouble with that as well. How should the port be setup with USB2ANY?
  • Hi Eric,

If you have a USB2ANY and the adapter board, please follow section 1.1 of below user's guide to setup the connection.

  • Hi Noel,

I don't have an adapter board -- how can I get one of those?  Can I purchase one from DigiKey or Mouser?

Also, as I wrote, the eval board came with a parallel port cable.  We bought a USB to parallel port adapter but I have not been able to get that working.  Do you have any advice for that?

So, I would be happy if I could get either one of these methods to work.

    Regards,

    Eric Hooker

  • I don't have an adapter board. Where can I get one?
  • Hi Eric,

we don't ship the adapter board separately, it is usually shipped together with the EVM.
OK, so maybe you can download CodeLoader from ti.com and use it to program the EVM. I hope it works in Win7 or above.
Open Codeloader, go to the Port Setup page, select LTP as the Communication Mode.
  • Noel,

Thanks but as I wrote above, the eval board came with a parallel port cable but computers don't have those anymore.  I bought a USB to parallel adapter cable but that is not working with the eval board.  I have been using Codeloader and setting the port to LPT but it does not work.  Any ideas?

I had another TI eval board that came with the "USB2ANY" but no adapter board.  I believe I will have to make my own adapter board or rewire the ribbon cable between USB2ANY and the LMX2531 board.  I thought it would not require all of this monkeying around.

    Eric

  • HI Eric,

Right, I am afraid you have to rewire the ribbon cable or build you own adapter board. I am sorry about that.

Noel: I ended up modifying the LMX2531 eval board to work with my USB2ANY.  Attached is a spreadsheet showing the mods to help other people that may run into this same problem.

  • Hi Eric,

    Thanks, this spreadsheet helps.
