CDCLVC1102: MLVDS 10MHz reference distribution help

Part Number: CDCLVC1102
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2581E, LMK04826, SN65MLVD200A,

Hi,

I Plan to use external 10MHz reference clock which produces differential signal (voltage out is 0.84Vlow - 1.6Vhigh). I want to distribute this signal to VPX backplane to be fed several cards that uses 10MHz reference. the detail is in the diagram below. Also, I have attached ext. 10MHz ref. clock output with 1Mohm impedance probe, not 100ohm.

Since multiport LVDS signal will be used, I decided to use MLVDS rather than LVDS by using SN65MLVD200A MLVDS receiver/driver chip from TI. This chip produces single-ended signal and plan to distribute to backplane. Then the signal will be sent to each carrier card with 1:2 fanout buffer to distribute LMK04826 and another 1:2 fanout to feed LMX2581E PLL, all TI product.

Here are questions:

1. Can you find right 1:2 fanout product that can handle voltage output to go to LMK04826 and LMX2581E?

2. Can you judge SN65MLVD200A is right MLVDS product that can be used this application?

3. please suggest any other diagram if you think make sense with your own part.

Thanks,

  • Q1. Can you find right 1:2 fanout product that can handle voltage output to go to LMK04826 and LMX2581E?
A1. I recommend CDCLVC1102 if you want to provide a single-ended output clock. When powered from VDD = 2.5V, the fanout outputs will have the correct signal level to interface with LMK04826 or LMX2581E.

Q2. Can you judge SN65MLVD200A is right MLVDS product that can be used this application?
    A2. SN65MLVD200A is a good option.

Q3. please suggest any other diagram if you think make sense with your own part.
    A3. Your diagram is OK

    Kind regards,
    Lane
