LMK00306: Pin connection of OSCin, OSCout and REFout.

Part Number: LMK00306
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00301

Hello team,

My customer would like to know if below connections work correctly.

OSCin: Pin. 12 > 51ohm > 0.1uF > GND

OSCout: Pin. 13 > Non connected.

REFout: Pin. 33 > Non connected.

Q1. Any problem for these connections?

In addition, there is the sentence in the datasheet below.

"When REFout is disabled, the use of a resistive loading can be used to set the output to a predetermined level.
For example, if REFout is configured with a 1 kΩ load to ground, then the output will be pulled to low when
disabled."

Q2. What does "the output" refer to, REFOUT or CLKOUTA/B?

Q3. Initially REFout: connected to GND via 1Kohm, but if it affects the output drop of REFout, please let me know the right way when unused.

Q4. What is "DC" for MIN of fCLKin in the datasheet P8?

Thank you for in advance for your cooperation.

Regards,

Kurita

  • Hi Kurita,
LMK00306 usage is similar as LMK00301.
A1, They are fine. Actually, when we selected CLKin0 or CLKin1 by pins CLKin_SEL[1:0], pins OSCin and OSCout could be floated. But customer's connection OSCin AC 50 Ohm to GND would not hurt the chip.
A2, "the output" refer to REFOUT.
A3, It is correct for "Initially REFout: connected to GND via 1Kohm". Float pin REFout_EN, or external pull down it with a 1kOhm.
A4, DC means LMK00306 input uses external bias, refer to "Figure 26. Single-Ended LVCMOS Input, DC Coupling
    with Common Mode Biasing".
AC means LMK00306 input uses internal bias, refer to "Figure 25. Single-Ended LVCMOS Input, AC Coupling internal bias".

    Regards,
    Shawn
