LMK03318: DC-LVDS output setting

Part Number: LMK03318

Dear, Support Team.

My customer is going to use LMK03318 with LDVS input and output.

Input frequency: 100 MHz
Input waveform: DC-LVDS (datasheet Fig 49)
Output frequency: 100 MHz
Output setting: AC-LVDS

There is AC - LVDS Output Characteristics on page 23 of the data sheet.
Can the customer use the DC-LVDS to AC-LVDS setting and DC-LVDS output?

Best Regards,
Hiroaki Yuyama

  • The AC-LVDS driver has low output common mode voltage (Vos range = 150 to 350 mV) and cannot tolerate a external biasing from the receiver, which is why the AC coupling is recommended between the AC-LVDS driver and a LVDS receiver with input biasing.  If the LVDS receiver can accept the low Vos range and has no internal biasing, then it is possible to use DC coupling between the driver and receiver, and terminate with 100-ohms differential across the receiver inputs.

  • Hi, Alan-san
    Thank you for your answer.

I understood the DC coupling of the LVDS driver.
I will suggest it to my customers.
