LMX2531: Ground pad impact on performance?

Part Number: LMX2531

I have a customer who purchased the LMX2531LQ1570E eval board.  However, they are now planning to use the LMX2531LQ1515E frequency range instead.

The GND pads on these two package options are different--specifically, the DAP pin.

Is it possible to mount samples of the LMX2531LQ1515E onto the LMX2531LQ1570E, given the different GND pads?  Any potential performance issues?

  • Gregory,

That's what we do on our EVM boards and it works. Just be aware that when the datasheet says NC, we mean do not connect, and do not ground!

There are differences in performance because these are different frequency devices, but this has nothing to do with the GND DAP in the bottom of the package. This is by design for different frequencies.
