PLLATINUMSIM-SW: Unhandled exception when loading design

Part Number: PLLATINUMSIM-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2492, LMX2430

Hi all,

I'm facing the following problem: I design my PLL (with "Advanced" feature level) and save my design. When I restart the program and load this design, an "unhandled exception" error appears. It seems that the program take the wrong rows from saved file, so for example it writes the filter types and filter order inside the two fields in "Recommend Fpd, Kpd, and Auto Checkbox Setup".

How can I solve this?

Many Thanks,

Massimo

  • Hi Massimo,

    I wasn't able to reproduce your problem. I loaded a device, changed some parameters in advanced mode, saved design, restarted the program and loaded design but didn't see an error.

    Can you be more specific how to get the error message pop up?

    Regards,
    Hao
  • Hello Hao,

    thanks for fast reply. This morning I did the following steps:

    1. Open PLLatinum Sim
    2. Select device LMX2492
    3. Save design with name "prova01sim"
    4. Close and reopen Pllatinum Sim
    5. Load design "prova01.sim"
    6. Error -->

  • Massimo,

    OK, I replacated the issue. It can happen whenever you load in the same part that is already there. I fixed it in the code and it will go out on the next release of PLLatinum Sim.

    In the mean time, the workaround is that you have to be on a different part number before you load in a new design with a new part number.

  • I tried the following:
    1- Open Pllatinum Sim and select device LMX2430 --> "Load Device"
    2- Save design
    3- Close and reopen Pllatinum Sim
    4- Select device LMX2492 --> "Load Device"
    5- Load design previously saved
    Result --> Unhandled exception: Conversion from string "Passive" to type 'Double' is not valid
  • Massimo,

    I updated the program so that loading the same device stopped causing the error. I tried the above steps you have and I did not get the error. So I think that I may have got this to. The error was related to it not loading in the part correctly.

    I'm working on some other updates, but plan a new release in April to address this bug and a few others as well as some upgrades.

    Regards,
    Dean
