TICSPRO-SW: TICSPRO-SW Can't load device LMX2572

Part Number: TICSPRO-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2572

I downloaded the latest (1.6.10.0, 20-Jul-19) version of TICS Pro and installed it without trouble. However when clicking 'Select Device => PLL + VCO => LMX2572 => LMX2572' the console on the bottom left prints an error (see below) and nothing else happens. The device is attached via USB and plugging/unplugging it does get recognized by the SW/logged in the console.

The error appears to be pointing to some missing dependency - can you provide more information and help out? Operating system Win10 pro, Oct '18 update.

It follows the last couple of lines of the log000.txt file found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\TICS Pro, showing program start, device attachment and the error:

Welcome to TICS Pro. Version -> 1.6.10.0, 20-Jul-19

  • Hi Simon,

I just performed a fresh install of TICS Pro, the same version you have, on both Windows 7 and Windows 10, and I cannot replicate the issue on my machines.

I can think of two things which might be happening:

    1. Somehow the install was corrupted, in which case try uninstalling and reinstalling TICS Pro. I have seen aggressive antivirus software corrupt or quarantine local DLLs in the install directory in the past
    2. An alternate version of IronPython, installed by a user or by a different application, is somehow overriding the default DLLs that TICS Pro reads. This seems unlikely, because in theory TICS Pro should be reading DLLs in its install directory only.

Worst case, consider installing TICS Pro on another computer. Sorry for the trouble, but this is the first time we've seen this error.

    Regards,

  • Hi Derek,

thank you for the quick response.

It appears that indeed a locally installed version of IronPython was being used, rather than what TICS Pro ships/installs.

The locally installed version was IronPython 2.7.0. An uninstall of the locally installed IronPython immediately made the error in TICS Pro disappear (without needing to reinstall TICS Pro).

Finally, installing locally the latest version of IronPython 2.7.9 does not cause any further trouble.

    Thanks and regards,
    Simon
