LMH1983: Freerun clock generator etc inquiry

Part Number: LMH1983
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05318B

Hi Team

Would you advise my customer's inquiry below?

Please introduce any applicable clock related products.

I'm thinking of making an SDI SG or Video sync signal (3 levels/BB) generator as an auxiliary equipment for design and development.

Usually, I use a clock generator such as LMH1983 as the clock source,
1.I want to generate a clock with high frequency stability even in FreeRun (self-run without external synchronization)
2.I want to give a deviation of the clock frequency such as ±50ppm, ±100ppm (I want to secure the accuracy to some extent)
If you want to realize something like this, is there anything that can be achieved with TI's clock solution?

Also, is the frequency deviation allowed by the LMH1983 the same as the lock range of the 27MHz VCXO?

Thanks

Best regards,

Shidara

  • Hi Shidara,

I think a DPLL solution may be best to achieve controllable frequency deviation. As you mention above with free run you're at the mercy of the oscillator.

The LMK05318B may be a good datasheet to check out. It allows for 0.001 ppb (part per billion) stepping in DCO mode.

    Thanks and regards,

    Amin
