LMX2594: LMX2594: Need a frequency and divide by two frequency on LMX2594 outputs

Part Number: LMX2594
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TICSPRO-SW, LMX2581, LMX2820

Hi, The input (FOsc) to LMX2594 should be 50MHz.

  1. Case 1: One output should be 2.5GHz and another output 1.25GHz.
  2. Case 2: One output should be 2.56GHz and another output 1.28GHz.

How can i generate this?

thanks, Abhijit

  • Hello Abhijit,

Please use out TICSPRO-SW tool to configure the LMX2594. You can export the registers that you configured in a text document to use at a later time or on a different host/SPI interface.

On another note these frequency plans are not possible. The LMX2594 internal VCO frequency lies in the range of 7.5 to 15 GHz. The outputs share the same channel divider. You can set the output to either direct VCO or channel divider. So far example, 10 GHz and 2.5 GHz can be configured. 10 GHz and 1.25 GHz can be configured. However 2.5 GHz and 1.25 GHz cannot be configured.

You can do this using the LMX2820 which has individual channel dividers. If you do not need the performance of the LMX2820 then LMX2581 can be used.

    Thanks,

    Vibhu
