LMK00304: power consumption questions

Hi,

I have a question about the power consumption of the LMK00304 supplied by 3.3V, when it has 4 LVPECL differential outputs and REFOUT is disabled:

Section 10.2 gives an example for Pdevice calculation, which is the PVTTPECL and PRT_PECL subtracted from PTOTLA:

 

My question is whether this calculation refers to a case where there are EXTERNAL termination resistors implemented in the board and VTT voltage (because in my case the clocks are driving clock generator and all matching is done internally). Thanks for the help!

    Yes, that is correct. In this datasheet example, P_RT_PECL is the external power dissipation in the external termination resistors, and P_VTT_PECL is the power dissipation in the external termination voltage. If these components are done internally to the receiver devices, then the consumption would be inside the receiver input stage.
