When a pin on my clock buffer is not being used, what is the correct termination?

  • In general, pins that are not used can be left floating and not driving traces to reduce power consumption. This includes unused clock input, unused clock outputs, and unused I/O.
Consult the datasheet for additional clarification on the typical connection of pins and treatment when unused.
The following application report also provides guidelines on what should be done with unused pins: Clocking Design Guidelines: Unused Pins
