LMK04832EVM: Can't get expected frequencies out of Clk4 and CLK 6 on LMK04832EVAL

I am having trouble getting the desired 160 MHz clock output from the LMK04832EVAL board on Clk4 and Clk6.

I am using a LMK04832EVAL card that has been modified to allow an external 160MHz oscillator at the OSCin SMA connector to be used instead of the onboard 122.88MHz Oscillator. I have removed the AC coupling capacitors from the 122.88 oscillator and connected one of them to the external path for this. I believe this oscillator is working and the connection to the LMK04832 is good, I am able to measure an expected 320MHz clock on CLK 0, CLK1, and CLK3 but cannot get a 160MHz clock to show on CLK4 or CLK6.

I have configured the LMK for a single loop through PLL2 and on CLK4 there is a ~620MHz instead of 160MHz and the divider for that CLK does not change the frequency at all. CLK6 shows a ~380MHz clock and the divider for that CLK does not change the frequency either.  I have tried to adjust these dividers for on multiple eval cards and have not been able to change the outputs. Bypassing the divider does send out the expected 2560MHz.

Would you please take a look at my settings and let me know what I'm doing wrong?

  • Hello Lee,

    I loaded in your registers onto TICSPro is it your intention that all the Clock Outputs settings should be identical between outputs apart from the clock divider being differet, 8 for 320 MHz outputs and 16 for 160 MHz outputs? It looks like there are differences when it comes to the Digital Delay controls. If this was not your intention there may be something odd going on with the register settings.
