LMK00301: Low Power Operation

Part Number: LMK00301

Hello,

I have a design w/ this buffer and I'm looking to have control over the output clock banks in order to reduce power consumption when necessary.

From the datasheet, it would seem that this could be achieved by disabling (Hi-Z) output clock banks via the relevant CLKoutX_Type0/1 selection.

From another design that I'm reviewing, it seems that the designer is trying to accomplish the same low-power state by switching the CLKin_SEL lines to point to the unused (floating) CLKin pair. By that I mean he uses Clkin0 by default, and switches the select to the unused Clkin1 when he wants to set the buffer for low power. I'm not too confident in this approach.

I'm thinking the former suggestion of CLKoutX_Type control should get it done, but I was hoping to get some confirmation before I move forward w/ my change.

Thank You,

David
