CDCM61004: Using OSC_OUT as another clock driver

Part Number: CDCM61004

We're using the CDCM61004 to provide (3) separate DDR4 input clocks to a Kintex Ultrascale device. We'd like to use the OSC_OUT line as the main clock input to the FPGA.

The datasheet references using OSC_OUT to "monitor proper loading of the input crystal". We are currently routing it as a clock line; is there any issue with this?

  • Hi Nick,

OSC_OUT can be used for main clock but its output frequency would be same as crystal input frequency with LVCMOS output format. The OSC_OUT turns on as soon as power is available and remains on during device calibration. After device calibration, OSC_OUT can be continuous turned ON with the other outputs in LVPECL format. Follow the Table 7 in CDCM61004 datasheet.
