LMK05318: Kvco numeric of VCO1 and VCO2 for PLLatinum

Part Number: LMK05318
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05028, LMK03328

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask LMK05318?

How much is the Kvco numeric of VCO1 and VCO2?
As the background of this question, we would lile to simulate using PLLatinum.

On PLLatinum, Kvco numeric of VCO1 and VCO2 are inserted automatically.

Kind regards,

  • Hello Hirotaka-san,

We don't specify this on our datasheet for this product and a few other similar products (LMK05028, LMK03328, etc.), why specifically is this needed?

VCO1 is the BAW. It will be set to 2.5 GHz in locked condition so there really isn't an associated Kvco.

    Thank you for your reply.

    why specifically is this needed?
->We would like to simulate LMK05318's phase noise using PLLatinum.
Phase noise depends on loop band, so it is relation to Kvco.
        That's why we need it.

  • Matsumoto-san,

PLLatinum Sim automatically sets the correct KVCO depending on the VCO frequency, based on device characterization we performed specifically to make PLLatinum Sim models match well with the EVM. You should let PLLatinum Sim automatically select the correct KVCO for your desired VCO frequency.

For the BAW VCO (PLL1), KVCO is approximately 1.1V/MHz.

For PLL2, KVCO ranges between 57.5MHz at the low end (5500MHz) and 116.1MHz at the high end (6250MHz). PLLatinum Sim will automatically select the correct KVCO for your VCO frequency.
