LMX2594: Thermal data of LMX2594

Part Number: LMX2594
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2820

Dear team

There is a good news that we design in LMX2594 in customer's new project. Customer have some question about thermal, could you help to recommend?

1.What is the chips default status for power consumption without sending any command.

2.Could you help to provide the thermal data of EVM boards for our reference? The customer need to compare and see if normal or not.

3.Have  LMX2594's EVM boards design the heatsink or fan for them? And you can improve how much temperature for them?

4.Could you help to provide the chips’ life test date based on Tj=85,100,125 degree.(Max rated 150 degree)

5.If the customer can read the Tj temperature of the chip from SPI bus?

Many thanks

Denny

  • Hi Denny,

    1. We can use the POR (power on reset) current as specified in the datasheet to calculate the power consumption after a Vcc power up.

    2. We don't have thermal data of the EVM board. Please read datasheet page 74 and 75 for pcb layout thermal consideration

    3. no heat sink is required, at least, I have never seen any customer use a heat sink for this device.

    4. There are some calculators or estimators in ti.com Quality and Reliability page, please take a look

    5. This is not possible. LMX2820 is a newer synthesizer which has this capability as it has a built-in temperature sensor.
