CDCE913: Doubts about clock when using this component with TDC1000

Part Number: CDCE913
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC1000, TDC7200, CC2538, BQ25570,

Hello,

I am designing a board using these components from Texas Instruments,

  1. TDC1000
  2. TDC7200
  3. CC2538
  4. BQ25570
  5. CDCE913

I will use BQ25570 to supply 3V to rest of the components. CDCE913 requires lower voltage so I will use a step-down to provide 1.8V to CDCE913. I intend to provide CLOCK to all the components using CDCE913, with VDDOUT set to 3V.

I have these doubts

  1. What is the minimum crystal/clock frequency that I can provide to the CC2538? If it is 8Mhz or 16Mhz, I can use CDCE913 to provide this same frequency to all the components and I will be within operating range. Or is it really recommended to supply 8MHz to TDC1000 and TDC7200, and 32Mhz to CC2538.
  2. If I supply CDCE913 with 1.8V and set VDDOUT to 3V, clock output generated by this component is compatible with TDC1000, TDC7200 and CC2538 (all three supplied at 3V) without the need to use any voltage translator?

Thank you

  • Hi Ali,

Your questions involve multiple products from different product lines, I will answer the question regrading CDCE913 only.

If VDDOUT of CDCE913 is 3V, then the max. CMOS clock output high (VOH) will be 3V. You have to ensure the min. VOH of CDCE913 meets the min. VIH of the TDC devices.

Please make separated posts to Zigbee forum for CC2538 and Sensors forum for TDC devices.
