LMK05318EVM: How to set LMK05318 on the EVM to 300MHz and 400MHz with TICS Pro

Part Number: LMK05318EVM

I am using the device for the first time and our application requires an output of 300MHz or 400MHz.  Using the TICS Pro software i can re-program from the default 156.25MHz to 100MHz or 200MHz with the default settings in place.  When doing so, i change all 8 output channels to the target frequency, Hit the 'Calculate Frequency Plan' and i get what is desired for the 100MHz and 200MHz case.  When i try the same methodology for 300MHz and 400MHz, I see 0 for the actual frequency after hitting the 'Calculate Frequency Plan' button.  Can someone please explain how to achieve these desired frequencies.

  • A little further information.  i was mistaken.  i can set 100MHz but not 200, 300 or 400.  i can also set multiples of the 156250000 default configuration:

100MHz okay with 100MHz for the Actual Freq:

200MHz Gives 0's for the Actual Freq:

  • Hello Aldo,

PLL1 uses the BAW which runs at 2.5 GHz. You must have an integer divide ratio vs 2.5 GHz to your output frequency, hence frequencies like 156.25 MHz or 100 MHz are possible. 156.25 MHz being divide by 16 and 100 MHz being divide by 25.

Non integer divide relationships vs 2.5 GHz must come from PLL2 which depending on your input will lock at a VCO between 5.5 - 6.25 GHz to produce the needed output frequency. To change to PLL2 simply select PLL2 from the PLL select drop down menu right next to where you input the frequency.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Thanks Armin!  Did the trick.  Appreciate the explanation.
