LMK04828: JESD204 Clock Generator Part Comparison

In this link (https://www.ti.com/clocks-timing/jitter-cleaners-synchronizers/products.html#p2192=JESD204B&p1811=32;98.8125&sort=p1451;asc), there are several different parts that support JESD204 clock generation. I am looking for some marketing slides that can give a more detailed comparison than just the columns in that table can provide. 

For general context, I am looking to evaluate different clock generators for a single (not multiple chip) RFSoC application. The applications needs deterministic latency, and tile synchronization and the RFSoC requires SYSREF signals for that purpose leading me to JESD204 parts. Our clock source will be a very accurate 10MHz OXCO, and we need to generate frequencies from 200MHz-600MHz (being able to generate up to 3GHz would be nice). 7 data clocks are required and then 2 SYSREFs attached to two of those clocks (9 total outputs). Other than that, the number one priority is phase noise performance across all offset frequencies (i.e. 1Hz to 20MHz) in that 400MHz +/- 200MHz output range.

  • Hi Nino,

    There are multiple jitter cleaner JESD204B clock generation parts, which operates at various frequency range. LMK0482x is the family for parts operates at different frequency range.

    Here is the comparison slides on LMK04832 vs LMK0482x for your reference and I would be recommending the LMK04832, which needs to be check for your clocks requirement (frequency planning).

    Thank you for your reply. What do you mean by needs to be checked for my clocks requirement? With VCO ranges of 2440 to 2580MHz, and 2945 to 3255MHz, the LMK04832 appears to be quite flexible. 

    Do you recommend LMK04832 for its superior jitter performance? What about close in phase noise?

    Lastly, can you put me in contact with me local field application support? My company is in San Francisco, California.

    LMK04832 has an VCOs range: VCO0 – 2440 to 2580 MHz and VCO1 – 2945 to 3255 MHz. and it is having integer clock dividers, which can generate clock output frequencies range as per below. Hence, your required frequency should be in the below frequency range.

    LMK04832 and LMK04828 are the pin compatible devices. LMK04832 supports a bit higher frequency range at max. side and has better phase noise performance (1/f, noise floor, etc..) compared to LMK0482x.
