TLC555: Shift over temp & Astable timer accuracy

Part Number: TLC555

Hi Team,

I am looking at the TI TLC555IDR for use in an existing design with an immediate need for 10K pieces.  I see TI factory stock listed at >250K so it would be great if this part can meet our application requirements.

I am comparing the TLC555I to the ST TS555IDTR that is currently used on the design.  In many ways the TLC555I is a better IC but there are a couple of specifications that I do not see in the datasheet and would like to confirm that they good for this application.

Would it be possible for you to share the following specifications?

  • Timing shift over temperature coefficient.  In other 555 datasheets this is given in units of PPM/oC.
  • Astable timer accuracy at Vdd=12V and / or Vdd=15V.  The datasheet only list accuracy at Vdd=5V.

Regards,

RJ

  • RJ,

I am currently looking into this and will respond within 2 days. I need to see if we have this data available.

  • Rj,

For the timing shift over temperature we back calculated the worst case from our max over temp and max room temp threshold and trigger values for the frequency shift. If we use the max spec which is typically a 6 sigma number, we end up at 320ppm/degC. Dividing this value by 6 we get a typical value of 53ppm/degC. Compared to the ST device, our TLC555 is better for this specification. This was calculated using a supply voltage of 15V.

For the Timer accuracy that is specified at 5V, we do not have data on this parameter but we do not expect it to shift with supply.
