TPL5010: TPL5010

Part Number: TPL5010

I want to use  TPL5010 IC in one our company product, which will be subjected to -20 to +80 degC temperature.

The device mentions IC having max Oscillator Accuracy over temperature of +-400 ppm/degC wrt room temperature 25degC.

Lets say one of the IC in lot has Oscillator Accuracy over temperature of +-400 ppm/degC

400ppm = 400/1000000 = 0.0004

For 85 deg C = 0.0004 * (85-25) = 0.024

Lets say another IC in lot has Oscillator Accuracy over temperature of +-100 ppm/degC

100ppm = 100/1000000 = 0.0001

For 85 deg C = 0.0001 * (85-25) = 0.006

as Oscillator frequency haven’t been mentioned in datasheet.  So for 1 sec timing generator , one IC having Oscillator Accuracy over temperature of +400 ppm/degC

Will now generate 1.024 sec timing pulse?

and IC having Oscillator Accuracy over temperature of +100 ppm/degC

Will now generate 1.001 sec timing pulse?

Please confirm my understanding.

They do have mentioned the internal oscillator has an accuracy of +/-0.5% over temperature,

but does it mean , if timer is generating 1 sec time interval  , then 0.5% contributes to 1.005 and 0.995.

Please confirm my understanding.

what would be TPL5010 IC oscillator frequency.

i am not sure which parameter to look for the IC to IC variation over the temperature.

  • Hi there,

    The accuracy is not w.r.t 25degC, it is an absolute frequency change over temperature.

    100ppm = 0.01%. That means, the rate of frequency change is 0.01% per degC. If delta T is 100degC, then the oscillator frequency will change by 1%.

    the configurable interval time of the timer is directly proportional to the oscillator frequency, so the interval time accuracy over temperature is same as the oscillator frequency accuracy over temperature. That is, +/- 0.01%/degC typical and +/-0.04%/degC max.
