TICSPRO-SW: USB to I2C adapter

Genius 13999 points
Part Number: TICSPRO-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Hi Experts,

Asking your assistance on this query about TICSPRO-SW. For this tool, can we use a USB to I2C adapter other than a USBTOANY adapter? Customer has Aadvark adapter to use USB to I2C.

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Unfortunately we don't support Aardvark interface at this time. USB2ANY is (for now) the primary supported interface for the majority of devices.

We've had this kind of request a few times since the logistics crunch started, and in a future version of TICS Pro (>6mo away) we have plans to support arbitrarily-defined interface libraries for communication as long as they define certain API functions (ReadRegister, WriteRegister, etc). In theory this should allow us to support I/O on any interface, including Aardvark, FTDI, or even microcontrollers/FPGAs on customer-defined PCBs (provided the interface library can manage its own PC-to-board connection details).

There may be a possibility that we can include it sooner - I'm looking into that now, but I don't expect that to be possible sooner than two or three months out.

    Regards,

    Derek Payne
