LMX2595: output has noise

Hello,

 The reference clock is 100Mhz,output is 15.7Ghz,output curve and configuration are as following, and we could find that there is noise  of the output. Could you please help to analyze?

    Try set OUTB_MUX to 2. 

    BTW, VCO2X_EN should be equal to 1.

    Thank you for your reply, and the customer has tried to configure VCO2X_EN=1 and OUTB_MUX=2, but the noise is still exist.

    Is there any other methods to reduce the output noise?

    OUTB_MUX should be set to SysRef, please try.

    The customer has changed the Output MUX =2, and the output is as following, the divider=2 frequency noise has decreased 10db, but it didn't meet their need, is there any other method? In addition, how to decrease the noise at  low frequency?

  • Hi Kallyn,

    Those are 100MHz signals. We can reduce them with the following setting:

    - reduce charge pump current

    - do not use OSC_2x

    - use smaller output power setting

    - set OUT_ISET = 3

    - after pll is locked, set R2[10] = 0. If a VCO calibration is needed, make this bit = 1 before VCO calibration is triggered.
