LMK01000: Failure of 1 LVDS pair during testing

Part Number: LMK01000

Good Morning

I am using Clock buffer LMK01000 for LVDS clock generation. Currently I am using single channel for testing. After programming, the clock buffer is able to generate the required clock but issue has come up during integration. The clock buffer stopped giving output at the pin which was working earlier. Other pins have been checked and its able to generate the clock. The failed pin is showing impedance similar to working pin as well. Any other things can be checked or it needs IC replacement.

  • Hi Vikas,

I can help debug this issue with a few more details. Can you provide a schematic or image of the load termination of the faulty output, as well as your TICS Pro configuration settings? Also, where have you been probing the circuit to take measurements? With LVDS you must probe across the 100 Ohm termination resistor rather than directly from the output pins to get an accurate measurement.

  • Hi Lewis
I was trying to probe it on the TP points connected. During the initial phase, the output clock was proper. During integration with other module which takes this clock, this clock output has stopped giving output at bench as well. If I see the other output pairs, still the IC gives clock. I wanted to know, under what situation this can happen.

  • Hi Vikas,

Just to make sure I'm understanding the situation correctly, all outputs on the LMK01000 were working on the bench setup, but when you connect an output to a receiving device it stops working? Do the other output pairs work when connected to the same module, or are they being connected to another device? There may be an issue with the internal termination of the receiver you are connecting to. Can you provide a schematic of the setup and the part number of the receiving module?
