LMX2541: Regarding the RMS jitter related information

Part Number: LMX2541

Hello support team,

What would be the RMS jitter for LMX2541 in the integrated BW of up to 20 MHz? I am looking for the RF source which can generate 110 MHz sine wave frequency and have the ultra low RMS jitter in femto second. So could you please guide to select suitable part number.

  • Hi,

You can use the PLLatinum SIM tool to simulate the phase noise / jitter performance considering the input reference signal.

I am not sure about your requirement on the ultra low jitter but below is the quick simulation plot for LMX2541 for 110MHz output and it shows around 110fsec jitter without OSCin performance.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thanks for your response. just one question, with Oscillator added along with jitter cleaner , Will the jitter performance will become better , right? or the oscillator+jitter cleaner Ref input's jitter will be added to 110fsec?

  • Hi,

The above simulated data is without OSC input and once you add this, it mostly affect on the close-in phase noise performance and based on OSC input, loop filter can be optimized and see the jitter performance. If you have bad reference, it may add more jitter, else there will be slight variation on the performance.

In PLLatinum Sim tool, you can import the OSCin data and see the overall jitter performance.

    Thanks!
