LMK05318: Frequency Settings

Part Number: LMK05318

Hi Team,

Primary Reference Clock uses 100M active crystal oscillators, my questions are as blow:

1. Can the LMK05318 output frequencies of 148.5M, 100M, and 26M simultaneously? How to configure?

2. Can the frequency of 148.5M be dynamically modified to 297M?? How to configure?

Thanks,

Gust

  • Hi Gust,

We recommend using the LMK05318B. It is the latest revision (refer this e2e post for differences) and has same performance as LMK05318.

Can the LMK05318 output frequencies of 148.5M, 100M, and 26M simultaneously? How to configure?

    • The 3 outputs cannot be generated simultaneously. The LMK05318 can generate two different frequency domains across its 2 PLLs/VCOs (VCO1 = 2500 MHz and VCO2 = 5500 to 6250 MHz). Only the 100 MHz can be sourced from the PLL1 which has the 2.5 GHz VCO. This means the other two frequencies must come from PLL2/VCO2. However, this is not possible since there is no common multiple between 148.5 MHz and 26 MHz that falls within the APLL2 VCO range.

Can the frequency of 148.5M be dynamically modified to 297M?? How to configure?

    • Yes that is possible if the 26 MHz is removed. In that case, the 100 MHz can come from PLL1 and 148.5 MHz/297 MHz can be sourced from PLL2 using VCO2 = 5940 MHz.
    • The output channel divider registers, OUTx_DIV, can be updated (modified dynamically) to change between 148.5 MHz and 297 MHz.

Please download TICS Pro to configure the LMK05318/B and refer to this step-by-step guide: 7345.LMK05318B TICS Pro GUI Overview.pdf.
