Hi Team,

Can you please help us with our customer's inquiry below?

We have been working with the LMX2592EVM for the past few days and notice some things that we were unsure of. We first notice that the VCO (Voltage controller Oscillator) was not as precise as our DRO (Dielectric Resonator Oscillator). How precise is the LMX2592 board? For example, If we want have an input of 100 Mhz and want an output of 200 Mhz, is it going to produce 200 Mhz exactly, and does this frequencies drift? Another question we have is we tried to have an input of 1 Ghz and divide it down to 200 Mhz but we only got to 299.9 Mhz. It showed this output for a minute or two and then just stopped working completely. We were unable to write or read the registers afterwards. The data sheet says we can input up to 1400 Mhz, is there a reason the board could have stopped working and why could we not get to 200 Mhz? If you could let use know the answer to these question that would be great.

  • Hi Danilo,

    With 100MHz input, you can get exactly 200MHz from the output. If the input clock drifts, output frequency will follow the drift. 

    1GHz input clock is supported.

    If you use TICS Pro to control the EVM, make sure you get the following message at the bottom right corner of TICS Pro, otherwise you won't be able to read or write registers.
