LMX2572: Multiple Devices for 9 Outputs

Part Number: LMX2572
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX1204

Hi,

Good Day.

The customer is currently using the LMX2572 part to generate a 2-GHz clock.

The part offers up to four single-ended outputs.

They really need something that would support nine single-ended outputs in total.

They could use multiple parts, but we would rather not have to use three of these.

They could also add a separate part that would buffer one or more of the LMX2572 outputs if you have something that would work for that.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hello Ray,

What features from the LMX2572 would you like your application to have? Do you want an integrated VCO? What jitter requirement do you have? What's you input frequency and frequency type?

From the RF and PLL Synthesizers in our portfolio, the next higher-output part in the LMX1204 which has 8-programmable outputs. From our jitter cleaners and network synchronizers portfolio, we have several parts that have an 9-output option with a 2GHz, LVCMOS output (link here), but note that those parts will be worse performing than any of our RF and PLL synthesizer portfolio. Also, if you choose to move forward with a LMK04xxx part, you will also need a VCXO which will add significant amounts of space to your design. Hope this helps!

    Best,
