LMK5C33216EVM: Device selection on TICS-pro does not work

Hello there,

I am trying to find if LMK5C33216 can be used for our requirements:

        1. with 100MHz reference input

        2. 750 MHz CLK output (from VCO1)

        3. 800MHz CLK output (from VCO2)

However, I am not able to access this device on TICS-pro from Select Device option. I am facing the following error when tried to select it (snapshot is from TICS-pro's Log file)

Could you help me with this, please?

    I've managed now to access the device on TICS-Pro - I needed to uninstall and re-install it to work properly.

    However, could you help me with the following, please:

     1. I am looking to use one of the reference inputs at 100MHz or 500MHz 

         -- Can I keep XO unused?

    2. Need to generate 750MHz (VCO1 = 5250MHz) and 800MHz (VCO2 = 5600) CLKouts

    I am finding it difficult to get my head around the different PLL settings and not sure if I am setting all the parameters correctly or not.

    If you could help with a config (.tcs) file with above requirements - that will be a huge help.

  • Hi Hima,

    Good that you have the software worked now.

    1. The LMK5C33216 would need XO input to operate. You can use the 100-MHz clock for XO input.

    2. The output frequencies can be generated by VCO1 and VCO2 with these options:

    a. APLL only: 100 MHz is used as XO input to operate VCO1 & 2. The outputs lock to 100-MHz XO input.

    b. With DPLL/APLL: The LMK5C33216 also has DPLL that supports hitless switching between reference sources and perform holder if the reference is lost. If you would like to use DPLL, then 100 MHz can be XO input similar to case a, the other input clock, 500 MHz, can be used for DPLL reference input. The outputs would lock to 500-MHz DPLL reference.

    Let me know your preferred method to generate the outputs.
