LMX2430: Estimation of failure cause of LMX2430SLEX/NOPB

Guru 11355 points
Part Number: LMX2430

Hi,

Using the LMX2430SLEX/NOPB, the PIN LD pin goes LOW to enter the UNLOCK state.

And when the symptom occurs, the frequency is locked around 450MHz instead of the set frequency. These occur frequently when checked in a 0°C environment. At 25°C, it occurs with a probability of about 1/10. It's happening with a specific chip, not all chips, and it seems to be related to an internal structural defect.

Can you give me some insight?

Thanks,

Conor

  • Hi Conor,

You need to debug to find out why you cannot get it lock.

Couples of thing to look at:

    - what is the Vtune voltage

    - what is the required Vtune voltage

    - is the input signal meets datasheet spec

    - do you have sufficient VCO feedback power to the PLL

    - is the loop filter design correct

    - is the PLL configuration correct

    - is the programming correct
