CDCE6214-Q1: This is for a part cross for a clocking oscillator

Part Number: CDCE6214-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDC6C-Q1, CDC6C

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am helping out on a Valeo project for a 3 mega pixel camera. There are 3 parts on the board including a clock oscillator, PMIC, and FPD link. I was curious if you had any specific specs that would make the device, we are pitching the CDC6C-Q1 BAW clock oscillator favorable with the FPD link. We are trying to replace NDK's NZ2016SHNZ2016SH 50mH oscillator. Is there any internal technical advantage or angle we can use to sell this part to Valeo engineering. We are attacking this socket from an engineering side and can use any internal advantage or spec highlight we can get!

Thank you very much and have a good weekend!

  • Hello,

The clock gen team is OOO today for US holiday. We will get back to you Tuesday, September 2nd.

    Best,

    Cris

  • Hi Mikey,

I wasn't able to find a datasheet for the NDK oscillator online. Based on the part number, I believe it's a 2.0 x 1.6 mm package so most likely CDC6C-Q1 would work as a drop in replacement. We've gotten confirmation from the FPD Link team that CDC6C meets all of the REFCLK requirements for their devices and I believe they will be adding it to EVMs/reference designs after the official release.

In terms of other advantages, we have an application note that shows some of the benefits the BAW oscillators have over crystal oscillators (mainly related to reliability and sensitivity to shock/vibration): https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snaa362/snaa362.pdf

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,

    Connor
