LMK00804B-Q1: Reference voltage for LVDS signals

We are considering a circuit that uses the LMK00804B-Q1 as a receiver to input an LVDS signal. In the circuit we are considering, we assume that the input signal to the LMK00804B-Q1 will be a differential signal with an amplitude of 188mV, but the reference voltage will be 0V. The reference voltage for a typical LVDS signal is thought to be 1.2V, so is it necessary to apply a 1.2V bias in an external circuit?

Hi Conor,

Applying an external bias to your LVDS signal to bring the reference voltage up to 1.2V would provide a fail-safe for the signal, and would ensure that the reference/common-mode voltage falls into the acceptable range. I would recommend applying the 1.2V external bias.
