I have a few more questions re: LMK03318:

  • How can I make the differential outputs from an output bank to be in phase when configured as LVCMOS? What register bit do I need to set?
  • If I want to use a TCXO (clipped sinewave) as my input reference, which input channel, primary or secondary, is more suitable?
  • Output_0_1 pair and Output_2_3 pair: Is it possible to set output 0 (or 1) as 1.8V LVCMOS and output 1 (or 0) as 3.3 LVPECL with VDDO_01 set at 3.3V? Or, is this not recommended at all? There is only 1 output divider shared between two outputs for these banks and hence, these are not independent.

    Prasoon,

    • For LVCMOS in phase, set OUT_x_SEL = 3, OUT_x_MODE1 = 3, and OUT_0_MODE2 = 2.
    • For using a TCXO as an input, either PRIREF or SECREF can be used. Depending on your amplitude you will want to set up the buffer as either LVCMOS or differential (AC-coupled).
    • OUT0 and OUT1 can be set to different output formats without an issue. The only stipulation is that they are forced to be the same frequency.

    If not already using it, I recommend installing TICS Pro and viewing the profile for the LMK03318 device. This may clarify some of the behaviors well.
