TLC555-Q1: Short time over voltage for TRIG pin

Part Number: TLC555-Q1

Hello TI E2E support team,

our application uses the TLC555QDRQ1. We want to assure keeping the voltage level on its TRIG-Pin (Pin 2) within the recommended / maximum operating conditions.

I'm a bit worried about the specification "Maximum Input Voltage" for the TRIG-Pin is Vdd.Our TLC555QDRQ1 is supplied with 5.0V. Therefore, every exeedance of 5.0V would already operate the TLC555QDRQ1 outside its maximum ratings as there is also no information regarding internal clamping diodes for the TRIG-Pin in the datasheet. Is this correct?

In our application we expect overshoots in the range of, for example, 300-400 mV for a few µs.So according to the datasheet, this would be already outside the absolute maximum ratings.

We are already limiting the possible current during these few µs with a 1 kOhm series resistor, so I do not expect that the TRIG-Pin will be damaged. However, I would be grateful for additional confirming information what (short-time) exeedance the TRIG-Pin can handle.

Thanks in advance,

Manoj.
