LMK01000/LMK01010 documentation issues

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK01000, LMK01010

The documentation for LMK01000/LMK01010 is confusing:

1. Differential output voltage: the table doesn't say whether it is peak-to-peak differential or single-ended. The plots suggest the spec is for one side, i.e. single-ended. Which is correct?

2. In 1.1 the datasheet claims that "To properly use the device, bypass Bias (pin 36) with a low leakage 1 μF capacitor connected to Vcc". However, Figure 1 shows it bypassed to GND with 100 nF. The evaluation board schematic uses 1 uF and two resistors allowing it to be connected to either VCC or GND, VCC being the default. Again, what is the correct way.

3. The evaluation board has all kinds of things connected to supposedly No Connect pins!!!! What is all that? Why is it not documented properly?

Thanks.

  • Hi Mikhail,

    1. Per LVDS spec, Diffrerential output voltage (Vod) is defined as single-ended swing (Vod=Voh - Vol).  Differential pk-pk would be |Vod| x 2.

    2. A 1 uF bias cap should be connected between Bias pin and Vcc.  The eval board has footprint options for testing purposes only, and are not needed on customer designs.

    3. Any circuitry connected to NC pins are not needed and can be ignored, since these pins are not internally connected to the die.
