CDCE913PERF-EVM: Got "Device driver software was not successfully installed" message when plugging into USB port

Part Number: CDCE913PERF-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE913

I have an issue when using the TI programming board. Please advise.

    1. First I uninstall all TI software I have, restarted the computer, and installed ClockPro1v21.exe (unzipped from scac119e.zip) from TI website: http://www.ti.com/tool/clockpro

    2. Then I plug in the TI programming into my usb port, and got the following message.

My PC know it is a TI programmer, but could not install the device driver. I have Windows 7.

3. Then I opened TI Clock Pro but it said I am not communicating with the device. This is expected since the device driver was not successfully installed.

4. I tried 4213.Driver_ProgrammingEVM_Windows7.zip from http://e2e.ti.com/support/clocks/f/48/p/317745/1114468#1114468. After I installed the new driver, the exclamation mark for "TI CDCE(L)9xx Programming Evaluation Module" in the Device Manager window went away. However, TI Clock Pro still state it is not communication with the device.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello Vitoria,

when the device shows up in the hardware manager as shown at the end of the respective pdf , it should communicate with the GUI.

When you use Clock Pro only the "Programming EVM Tool" window communicates with the socketed EVM.

ou can start in either at the start-up of the GUI in the wizard window or using the entry in the "Tools" menu.

Technically the board is transparent to the software, that means that if there is no unit inserted into the socket, it won't recognize the "EVM" or better: the unit.

This can also happen when unit is inserted at another position or the socket pins have a soft short.

Can you please let me know when you ordered this EVM?

    Thanks!

    Best regards,

    Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your reply! I ordered this EVM about 2 weeks ago.

Currently I do not have a TI CDCE913 chip plugged into the socket, so my next step is to get a chip, plug it in, and try again.
