CDCLVD1216: CDCLVD1216 drive length

I am using this IC to distribute signal (2-5KHz) tousing this IC and drive to 2 m length.Whether this IC is sufficient for drive or i need to use LVDS driver additionally.

Hi Amrita,

You can use the CDCLVD1216 IBIS model to simulate driving a transmission line of your desired length and plot the signal integrity. Based on the results, you may decide to re-drive the signal at the receiver.

At Receiver end design is already frozen and LVDS Receivers have been used.I need to distribute timing signal into 90 lines.I was using this IC for distribution.I need to drive for 1.5 m length.Any additional circuit is required??

CDCLVD1216 can be used to drive a a signal over this length. However, I highly recommend that you simulate your use case in order to determine if the performance will meet the requirements of your application.

Dear Lane,

Thank you for your reply.I will try to simulate the same.As per data sheet this IC is designed for 50ohm transmission line but I have to use PTFE wires to carry this timing signal(2KHz)to another module(FPGA based).Will it be alright??plz confirm.

Hi Amrita,

I recommend to use a matched pair of 50-ohm PTFE coaxial cables. I also recommend to use a differential 50-ohm trace to route the output of the CDCLVD1216 to your connector.
