SN65LVDS105: using 2 LVDS Repeaters to have 8 outputs

Dear,

I want to use 2 SN65LVDS105 LVDS Repeaters to have 8 similar outputs to serve for a fixed 50 MHz LVDS compatible clock signal.

My clock signal is generated by a MiniZed board. The output of the MiniZed is 3.3 V.

My question is can I connect the output of the MiniZed directly to 2 inputs SN65LVDS105 LVDS Repeaters or do I need some translation or resistors to distribute the signal?

Hi Gery,

The max input current of the SN65LVDS105 is 20 uA, as specified in the datasheet. So, as long as your board can drive 40 uA you can connect the output directly to the 2 SN65LVDS105. I am not familiar with MiniZed board, but I would think it should be able to drive 40 uA.

I had a look to the specifications in fact to the Xilinx Zynq-7000 SOC that is used by the MiniZed. Every I/O programmed on LVCMOS33 can drive at least 4 mA. So largely sufficient to drive 2 SN65LVDS105.
