LMX2485E: The slew rate about LMX2485E

Part Number: LMX2485E

Hi all.

I have a question about LMX2485E.
1. Datasheet P.5
Note(1) A slew rate of at least 100 V/uS is recommended for frequencies less than 500 MHz for optimal performance.
You recommend the  slew rate of at least 100 V/uS if frequencies is less than 500 MHz for optimal performance.
If the slew rate is lower than 100 V/uS, Please tell me what is the impact?

Best Regards,
Sho

  • Hi Sho,

When applied to the input of a circuit, the external driving circuitry needs to meet the minimum slew rate limit in order to guarantee the correct operation of the receiving device.

Specifically in this case, the low slew rate can cause the LMX2485E PLL to unlock.
If you are concerned about inputting excessive power, you could implement a RF Limiter to prevent damage.
