TMS320VC5402: Interfacing male 25 pin IEEE printer connector to laptop with USB port

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, TMS320VC5402

Hello,

I'm just getting started with an evaluation board that interfaces to a computer through a 25 pin IEEE printer connector. I don't have any computers with that kind of port built in; my laptop only has USB, ethernet, and HDMI ports available. A related inquiry about using a USB to IEEE parallel printer cable (linked below for reference) stated that the converter didn't work, and led to discussion about using something called a USB2ANY with an adapter board.

Link to aforementioned converter from related post: www.tripplite.com/high-speed-usb-to-ieee-1284-parallel-printer-adapter-cable-a-male-to-db25-female-6-ft~U207006

With that in mind, what is the best way to interface the evaluation board to my laptop? Are all parallel printer cable to USB converters effectively ruled out for this?

Thanks in advance,
