CDCE706: Programming the part

My customer has a design that is using a CDCE706PWR to generate some clocks and they need to be able to program the part:

On the TI website, I was looking at the CDCE906-706PROGEVM and I have a couple questions.

  • I have seen a User’s Guide (SCAU026A, Nov2010) that show an EVM with a USB interface, but I have also seen older documentation (SCAU017B) showing a board with a parallel port interface.  What is the part number I need to procure the EVM with USB?  
  • I would like to program the blank CDCE706PWR part after it has been installed on my board.  Can I use the EVM to plug into my board to program the part?  (I would be more than willing to solder a cable onto the EVM if necessary.)

    I apologize for the delay.  It appears the EVM with USB support for programming CDCE706 is the CDCEL9XXPROGEVM is CDCEL9XXPROGEVM.  Not CDCE906-706PROGEVM.

    It is interesting that the CDCEL9XXPROGEVM folder doesn't mention use for CDCE706.  However if you look at the PROGEVM document SCAU026A, it mentions "The CDCE(L)9xx programming EVM is designed to program all devices of both the CDCE(L)9xx and the CDCEx06 families."

    The CDCEL9XXPROGEVM PCB has a jumper to configure for CDCEx06 or CDCE(L)9xx programming.  Of important note, it appears there are two version of this board but it appears they are both labeled v1.1.  The 2008 SCAU026 document has an errata that CDCE9xx and CDCEx06 silkscreen is swapped.  The 2010 SNAU026A does not have the errata, however the board picture is not changed.  I have a CDCEL9XXPROGEVM board, and it shows silkscreen I expect is correct since it is opposite the older documentation.  However I mention this just in case the board you receive is different.  Please use the bottom jumper position for CDCEx06 as silk illustrates in the image below.
