LMK04828BEVM: How to read register using TICS-Pro

Hi Team,

I am using LMK04828BEVM and LMK04826BEVM and having trouble reading back the registers.

When I clicked [Read Register] button in the "RAW Registers" tab, I had following pop up windows.

Clocked "Yes" at above window.

Clicked "OK", then following window popped up.

I clicked "Yes" here. However, when I read back the register in the RAW register tab, all the data returned was "0x00".

How can we achieve register reading ? Do you need to modify EVM schematic ?

Best Regards,
Kawai

  • Hi Kawai,

Can you hit "Read all registers" and observe the changes?

  • Hi Hao-san,

It is the same. I believe you could reproduce this symptom 100% with the EVM and USB2ANY.

By default, LMK0482x-EVM is set to 3-wire SPI mode, however, USB2ANY is 4-wire SPI.
You would need to change mode and certain pin settings.

It is much helpful if this procedure would be descibed in the EVM User's Guide or the TICS-Pro GUI would automatically change the SPI setting when answered "YES" at the above pop-up window.

I believe, every user wouldl get stuck here when reading registers with the GUI.

    Best Regards,
    Kawai
  • Hi Kawai,

Thanks for the feedback. Have you been able to get it to work?

    Regards,
    Hao
  • Hi Hao-san,

Yes, I needed to change the following settings.

Could you please make sure if these are required with the latest LMK04828/26 EVM and TICS-Pro GUI ?

If it does, I hope this information would help the EVM users.

    [Disable SPI 3-wire mode]

[Change PLL2_LD output setting to "Output (push-pull)" and "SPI Readback"]

    Best Regards,

    Kawai
