LMK00101: HCSL DC coupling between TI clock Driver and Receiver

I am interested to know if an output from the LMK05318 (OUT7) can be set to HCSL mode and sent to the input of the LMK00101 with DC coupling and 50 ohm external termination on the P and N signals to ground. The LMK00101 datasheet indicates that its input supports HCSL, but there is not any more details about using this differential signalling method (e.g. AC or DC coupling).

    Hi David,

    The LMK05318 can be set to HCSL on OUT7 to be sent to the input of LMK00101.

    The LMK05318 HCSL output has programmable internal 50ohm termination to ground which can be enabled if the receiver side does not provide termination.

    If internal termination is disabled, external 50ohm to ground on P and N is required at either the driver side (source terminated) or the receiver side (load terminated).

    Here is a diagram showing how to make the connection. In this case, the receiver would be the LMK00101
