Hello,

I have bought EVB for the chip LMK04906B (via the shop DigiKey). The package contains: Evaluation board, LPT interface. There is mentioned in the document "LMK04906 Evaluation Board" (version Dec 2013) on the page 5, that the kit shall contain "USB2ANY-uWire Interface" - uWire header on the EVB. What is the valid content of the kit?

Hi Viktor,

Can you clarify exactly what the LPT interface that was included with your kit is? Is it a Male DB25 on one end? Could you send a picture?

Hi Viktor,

It seems like you received an old version of the kit. If you have access to a computer with a parallel interface, you should still be able to communicate with the board using the Codeloader software, although this software is currently not supported by TI on newer computers.

If you have a USB2ANY device, you can still interface with the uWire header using the diagram below as a guide.

thank you for the answer. It is exactly, what I need to know. Yes, I have USB2ANY from prev. project, so I am going to use it. Thank you also for the wire-diagram. Are there any additional HW changes between my old version and current version of EVB?

Hi Adam,

I think you the data wire and clk wire are exchanged in your picture on the LMK-side, because CLK is pin 4 and data is pin 2.

I was using another board for reference and didn't realize the pinouts were different. Here is an updated mapping of the pins. I've included photos of the EVM connector and the USB2ANY for clarification.

I don't know, if it is important but I describe my wiring for completeness' sake.

I took TI document SNAU083A rev July 2014 "CodeLoader 4 Operating Instructions User's Guide". There is written in the table 2 "the Clock, Data, and LE pins are fixed to 8, 4, and 2 respectively." Probably this information is too strict, I don't know, but I use it. As a second document I took SNAU126A "LMK04906 Evaluation Board" page 42 in the concrete, where the schematic of header on the EVM is shown. This allowed me to map the pins between USB2ANY and LMK04906B EVM:

USB2ANY	LMK04906B EVM
1	1
4	2
6 (GND)	9 (GND)
2	6
8	4

Other pins I need not (e.g. LD), thus I did not conned then.

This configuration I tested, it works.

Ah I see what's happening here. I had the pin number assignment the same for both the uWire and USB2ANY connectors. Here is the corrected mapping and I've gone back and edited my previous diagrams to highlight these inconsistencies.

Please note that you may have the wrong pin for GND on the USB2ANY. I've marked the correct pin in the diagram (correctly labeled as pin 5, not pin 6 as we have both done in the previous responses)

Hi Adam,

No, I am also confused about different descriptions in different documents, but the best way is to verify by measurement. I and can confirm pin 6 is GND on the USB2ANY. Thus pin USB2ANY.pin6 shall be connected to EVB.pin9.
