LMX2572EVM: Schematic Design

Part Number: LMX2572EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2572

We refer to Figures 19 and 20 in the LMX2572EVM Evaluation Instructions to design the module with the LMX2572. Could you give us some advice on the following?
(1) In Figure 20, there are 12kΩ resistors in series on the control lines of SYNC, SCK, SDI, etc. Is this ESD protection?  Are these necessary?
(2) When the ramping function and SYSREF are not used, is it OK to ground RampClk, RampDir, and SysRefReq pins directly, or should a resistor be added like Figure 20?

  • Hello,

The 12k-ohm resistors are used with the DNP'd 12k-ohm to GND resistors to form a voltage divider in case the micro-controller I/O is higher voltage.

You can use a smaller series resistor instead (<100-ohms).

Yes, connecting these pins to GND directly is ok.

    Thanks,

    Vibhu
