LMX2434EVAL: evaluation board connection to Codeloader software

Part Number: LMX2434EVAL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODELOADER, USB2ANY, LMX2434

Hi,

I have a USB2any device which I communicate with codeloader program. According to the EVB schematic :

the LMX2434EVL relevant pin  are:
1- CLK

2- DATA

3- LE

9-GND

The codeLoader cinfiguration I used is:

The program recognized my USB2ANY device(the picture above is not relevant- shows LPT option)  but the LMX2434EVL is not responding .

I also tried the configuration diagram Adam Siismets proposed with no success.

How should I work with the USB2ANY device and Codeloader program?

Thanks,
Sapir

  • Hi Sapir,

The LMX2434 EVM was design many years ago, the pin assignment of the socket is very different from USB2ANY.

shown below is the pin assignment of USB2ANY, I am afraid you have to manually wire the pins to the EVM accordingly. Please also note that the signal swing from USB2ANY is 3.3V, there are voltage dividers in the EVM's SPI interface, the signal swing to the chip is therefore 1.8V only. Make sure you can measure >1.6V signal swing at the pins of the chip, otherwise programming may not succeed.

  • Hi,
It works!, thanks. There is one thing I don't understand, the VCO on the EVL is CVCO55BH-4100-430 and has positive tuning characteristics according the datasheet. In order to make the EVL work I configured the phase detector polarity to be Negative (It didn't work otherwise). Why is that?

    Thanks,

    Sapir.

  • Hi Sapir,

I think the EVM is using active filter, so the polarity gets reversed by the amplifier.
